A Divergent Vasyunin Correction

چکیده

Abstract. V. I. Vasyunin has introduced special sequences of step functions related to the strong Nyman-Beurling criterion that converge pointwise to 1 in [1,∞). We show here that the first and simplest such sequence considered by Vasyunin diverges in L1((1,∞), x dx), which of course precludes the L2((1,∞), x dx)-convergence needed for the Riemann hypothesis. Whether all sequences considered by this author also diverge remains an interesting open question.

Quotient Singularities, Integer Ratios of Factorials and the Riemann Hypothesis

The goal of this paper is to reveal a close connection between the following three subjects that have not been studied together in the past: (1) terminal and canonical cyclic quotient singularities; (2) integer ratios of factorials; (3) Nyman’s approach to the Riemann Hypothesis. In particular, we notice that the constructions of P.A. Picon are relevant for the study of singularities and possib...

A cotangent sum related to zeros of the Estermann zeta function

We consider a cotangent sum related to Estermann's Zeta function. We provide an elementary and self-contained improvement of the error term in an asymptotic formula proved by V. I. Vasyunin.

Subjectivism of Expectations and the Process of Error Correction: The Views of Lachmann and Mises G.P. Manish Assistant Professor

Ludwig Lachmann famously stressed that expectations are inherently subjective, resulting in the phenomenon of divergent expectations, i.e., differing interpretations of market conditions on the part of market participants; a phenomenon that, coupled with the ceaseless change characterizing market data, greatly undermines the presence of any process of error correction on the marketplace. This p...
